Notary Services
The role of a notary in simple terms is to authenticate documents so that they will be accepted in another country. The following are some of the jobs that I am most commonly asked to deal with:
- For individuals
- Authenticating documents required in connection with the administration of a deceased person's estate, including preparing certificates of law.
- Authenticating personal documents and information for people looking to immigrate or emigrate or to marry or work abroad, including criminal records certificates and educational certificates.
- Passport applications for minors for use abroad.
- Travel documents for those travelling abroad with minor children.
- For companies
- Certifying copies of the company's constitutional documents.
- Certifying copies of the company's statutory books.
- Authenticating transactional documents, including the authority of signatories.
- Providing certificates as to the status of a company or the identity of its directors.
- For individuals and companies
- Powers of Attorney for use overseas.
- Documents in relation to the sale of land and property abroad.
- International affidavits and declarations.
- Witnessing of signatures.
- Arranging for the legalisation of the document if required. This may involve:
- the addition of a certificate, known as an apostille, from the Foreign and Commonwealth Development Office (FCDO). This certificate confirms that my signature and unique seal are genuine.
- the addition of a certificate from a Chamber of Commerce, Embassy or Consulate.
